Intel and AMD boost PC industry

Both Intel and AMD have upwardly revised their fourth quarter revenue expectations.
Intel expects revenues to fall between $6.8bn and $7.0bn, up from the $6.5bn to $6.9bn originally predicted. The company explained that, 'its architecture business is performing above expectations, primarily due to higher sales in Asia.'
AMD now anticipates revenues approaching $700mn, against a previous target of around $600mn. It cites, 'stronger than expected PC processor demand and continued strength in high-density flash memory products.'
Similar good news has been reported by both Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments but ailing PC maker Gateway continues to suffer, saying it might not meet fourth quarter sales targets.
