Details of HTC's first Windows Phone 7 handset have leaked ahead of this month's launch.
The HTC Mozart will sport a 3.7in 800 x 480 pixel TFT display, giving it a slight screen size advantage over the iPhone 4 but only a fraction of Apple's 640 x 960 resolution. The device will also be slightly chunkier, measuring up at 119 x 60.5 x 11.9mm, according to the spec sheet leaked to Engadget.

The juice will be provided by a 1,300mAh battery, and it will have the full complement of wireless connections, including 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and assisted GPS.
The HTC Mozart will likely be officially unveiled at the launch of Windows Phone 7 next Monday. Europe is expected to get handsets by the end of this month, ahead of the US.
Meanwhile, streaming music service Spotify has announced a version of its mobile software for Windows Mobile 6.x and Windows Phone 7 handsets.
spec just as Desire HD; just as the launch date
Well this is sneaky! On the day for which probably many people have been waiting as this is when the HTC Desire HD goes on sale, MS is throwing a spanner into the works with the unveiling of the Windows 7 phone. And it looks like it has the same spec as the desire, bar the slightly smaller screen size. It certainly won't change my mind on the choice of my handset on the day but it certainly is an interesting move.

The price will be interesting
The one thing Microsoft can afford to do is to subsidise the handsets via marketing "co-op" to get decent initial market share. If its £100 cheaper than the iPhone or equivalent Android phone it might be attractive.

Leaked by who?
according the the Engadget site, it was "received from an internal Phones 4U system"
But then, blaming the big bully MS is so much nicer to do...

Hope the OS is better than what it was on the XDA!
Moved over to the iPhone after the Nokia e71.
see http://goo.gl/2u7D.
Hope the new windows mobile OS is good. Used to crash a lot and was very slow. And the stylus mode...really clunky.

Let's not worry too much about pixels
800x480 on a 3.7" display is 252 pixels / inch which most people won't be able to resolve without eye-strain. It's the equivalent of 1920x1050 on a 9" display!

@milliganp
Same as the Desire and it is no way a strain on the eyes.

Looks Nice
Quite like the look of the handset if the pictures are to be believed. If M$ nail this one I might give WinMo another go...

hmmm
I know its silly, but i'm still waiting to see if they've tried to stick with the desktop windows paradigm. i know that the underlying API's are the same, but still - does it think its a phone, or a desktop on the move?

Desktop paradigm? R U kidding
Khellan, I don't know where you've been over the last 5 months, but WP7 is based on something called a metro UI and its as far from a "desktop paradigm" as you can think.
That was the problem with the old win 6.xxxx
If you really haven't heard about what they're trying to do, I'd like to go where you live.
As for the phone, bit disappointed so far. I'm at the end of my contract and I am waiting for a phone to come up to me and say "buy me".
Not seen that yet.

Run that one past me again
@Ajuma1 you're disappointed with a phone you haven't seen which hasn't been released?
