Canon 60D focuses on HD video

Canon has released its long-awaited EOS 60D, a replacement for the two-year-old 50D.
With an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, a DIGIC 4 processor and a nine-point auto-focus system, the camera packs a fair punch for stills photographers, but it is the advances in video that catch the eye.
For a start, the camera has a 3in fully-articulated screen of the type commonly found on camcorders. The screen swivels and tilts to make framing shots from odd angles more comfortable. According to Canon, the attention on video marks a commitment to include HD video in more of its DSLRs.
Videos can be recorded in 1080p at 30, 25 or 24 frames per second and 720p movies can be recorded at 60 or 50 frames per second.
Canon says the 60D also has in-camera RAW conversion and video editing capabilities on board, and supports high-capacity SDXC memory cards, providing up to 2TB of storage.
The camera is expected to go on sale in September at £1,099 for the body only or £1,499 with an 17-85mm lens.

Wrong camera!
It's the Canon 60D that has just been released. I know the camera in the picture says D60 on it, but that's because it is indeed a picture of the Canon D60, released about 8 years ago :-)

Good spot Mark.
Also is the pricing right - the press release I've read said it was $1,099. I know there is rip off Britain but a 1:1 USD to Sterling conversion is a bit harsher than usual.

Better than Apple...
When the Dollar was weak (1.78 to the pound), Apple used to use the conversion $1 = 2UKP!
Now, that was harsh! :-P

Thanks for pointing that out Mark.

Camcorder Canon 6oD
Canon 60D is an hd camcorder. Does the recorded video is SD (Standard-Definition) video? If I want to update it to my myspace, what tools is necessary? Do I need an hd video converter for windows or mac for it (I don’t which os will support it, maybe two), I’v purchased an ifunia hd video converter for my iphone 4, which can easily convert between popular HD video formats and down-convert HD videos to SD (Standard-Definition) videos.

Pricing...
Price *has* to be lower - £1,100 is almost identical with 7D, which simply makes the 60D redundant. Probably £900 would sound right...

@Radovich:
It does support VGA (640x480) video.

Pricing
The cameras command a premium when first released but during the first 2 to 3 months the price falls dramatically - the (internet) street price of the 7D fell by 24%, from £1700 to £1300; the 550D fell from £800 to £650, a 19% drop. (body only prices)
Current prices are:
7D £1200
550D £600
Within a few months of release we can expect the 60D to fall to around £800-900.
