Samsung's upcoming “Galaxy Tablet” is expected to include 3G connectivity and be available through Vodafone, according to leaked inventory listings for the mobile phone network.

The Galaxy - which is expected to feature the Android 2.2 operating system and a 7in screen - has been garnering attention as a potential iPad competitor.

In a screen grab of Vodafone's catalogue, first seen on Engadget, the company lists a “Samsung Galaxy Tablet Contract”, which would mean the tablet is likely to feature mobile browsing via Vodafone's network.

Vodafone would not confirm of deny the reports, saying to do so would be "speculation", but the device is expected to be officially launched at the IFA gadget trade fair, which starts in Berlin at the beginning of September.

According to rumours circulating on gadget websites, the tablet will feature a 7in AMOLED display with 1024x600 WSVGA resolution powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird ARM11 Core S5PC110 processor and a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processor.

Pedants take note

The S5PC110 claims to be a Cortex core base on ARMv7 architecture. ARM11 is the previous generation based on ARMv6 -clear as mud eh?
/pedantry
More interestingly (sic) it's alomost identical to the A4 used in the Apple iPad.

Too darn small

"7in screen" Bah,

I've been after a similar 10" device for ages. 7" Is just a bit too small IMO

Too Small?

7" makes a good personal media devicebut it's neither a phone or PC replacement. At 10" there is a real possibility of it becomming a persons "main" device (with desk-stand and bluetooth keyboard).
The big question -which also applies to the 5" Dell device -is weather there is a genuine intermediate market.
I wonder if Apple tried this before going to 10" for the iPad. I also think Apple were clever to go for 1024x768 rather than 1024x600 as that makes a much better portrait-mode device.

I think it's PC induced dyslexia -or a lazy brain ;)

Hmmmm....

"has been garnering attention as a potential iPad competitor"

Something tells me this is a phrase we're going to be hearing a lot over the next couple of years.
