Tory MP Therese Coffey has had to move quickly to counter a hack attack of her Twitter, Facebook and blog pages.

The attacks appear to have begun yesterday evening when the MP for Suffolk Coastal's Twitter account began sending out sexually explicit messages to followers, and the MP says her Facebook account and blog were also attacked.

Her Twitter postings contain sexually-explicit comments about Prime Minister David Cameron's wife, and a threat that Tim Montgomerie, founder of the ConservativeHome website, would be attacked next.

Coffey appears to have regained control of the account as no further obscene messages have been posted today, but the previous postings are still visible on her Twitter page.

The latest post on her blog reads “Apologies – think I'm back in control now. Hopefully I can trace who did this.”

However, the security clampdown has not been complete as the MP still has a mobile phone number - albeit for a phone that her message says in in the repair shop - visible in her profile.

It's a shame the PCeU are losing their extra funding.
