Dell's products take a multimedia twist in a deal with Roxio to bundle VideoWave Movie Creator software with its computers.
Most OEMs already use Roxio CD-burning software with their products and it is included as part of Windows XP. Dell is the first PC maker to sign a deal to bundle Roxio's VideoWave Movie Creator.
Dell will include the software in its Movie Studio Essential and Movie Studio Plus bundles on Dimension PCs and Inspiron Notebook computers.
Shares in Roxio rose nearly 30 per cent on the news, although analysts remain sceptical on how much such a deal is worth to the company, given Dell's effectiveness at squeezing value from its suppliers.
Further details of the deal were not disclosed. Dell representatives were not available at the time of writing for comment.
