O2 has announced details of its early upgrade offer for the iPhone 4.
The network will let customers leave their existing mobile contract and upgrade to the iPhone 4 for a one-off charge of £20 for each month left on their current deal.
Customers will have to sign a new 18- or 24-month contract when they purchase the iPhone 4, and of course pay for the new handset. O2 has yet to announce prices and tariffs for the iPhone 4, as the British phone networks wait for one another to blink first.
iPhone 4 in depth
Current iPhone owners could mitigate much of that upgrade fee - or even turn a profit - by trading in their current handset with O2. The network is offering £240 to customers recycling a 16GB iPhone 3GS, and £253 for the 32GB model. For customers with a year or less to run on their contract, that could eliminate the cost of buying out their contract.
It's likely those recycling prices will fall as the iPhone 4 goes on sale and more people begin trading in their old iPhones.
O2, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile have all announced that they plan to sell the iPhone 4 from 24 June.
Oh man...
That's very tempting.... I just don't know if I can put up with another 18 months of poor network coverage though.... probably not. But still, how much was that again....? (sigh)

Hmm
Who is making the profit. Thats 20 pounds straight to O2, since they will no longer have to pay for our calls and browsing. thats just cost of phone covered. I have Iphone 3G, not the 3GS, and my contract runs out in 8 months, that would be 160 pounds, but how much would O2 give me for my Iphone 3G, hope its about 180 pounds. want to upgrade THAT much. Also what about Nokia N8, PCpro, please find out when it is being released, i am getting impatient.

eBay
Or you can sell your iPhone on eBay and get the cash that way. If it's in decent condition, but not spotless you should get more money than from the usual trade-in suspects who will niggle and whine about any scratch.

Tariffs
Well, O2 have sent me details of the tariffs, although they are contradictory....
They state that all iphone tariffs include unlimited internet, but the table in teh email gives a range of different limits depending on monthly cost...
Not really worth them bothering!

@Flangie
yes looks like o2 have released details on Tarifss but they seem to now include monthly usage caps, I thought the point of an iPhone tariff was to have unlimited data usage, think it's time to look at what the other providers are offering.
