Intel has refreshed its mobile Core i3, i5 and i7 families with four new dual-core Ultra Low Voltage processors.

At the top of the range, the Core i7-660UM has a base clock of 1.33GHz, which Intel’s Turbo Boost feature can increase to 2.4GHz when required, plus a 4MB Smart Cache and support for Hyper-Threading. It has a boxed price per thousand units of $278.

The Core i7-660UM joins two previously announced Core i7 Ultra Low Voltage processors, although we've yet to see any of these high-end processors make it into laptops.

The two new mainstream parts, the Core i5-540UM and Core i5-430UM, both run at a base frequency of 1.2GHz, but the former has more thermal headroom: its Turbo Boost ceiling is 2GHz compared to 1.73GHz of the latter. Both support Hyper-Threading and feature 3MB Smart Cache.

Finally, for the lightest ultraportables, the Core i3-330UM runs at a fixed 1.2GHz, supports Hyper-Threading and has 3MB Intel Smart Cache.

Designed to maximise both performance and battery life in thin and light laptops, all of the ULV processors are built using the 32nm fabrication process and include integrated Intel GMA HD graphics.

The first laptops based on the processors are expected in June.
