O2's has managed to restore portions of its data network, after suffering another embarrassing failure.
The network has been down since yesterday, but O2 has now tweeted that almost of its service has been restored. "Quick data services update: the system fault has been fixed and internet connections are gradually being restored. MMS and Visual Voicemail remain affected – we’re working on these as a priority."
The network problems have been occurring since yesterday, when the network confirmed via Twitter that some of its customers were having data problems. It claimed services would be resumed that evening.
Today, the company tweeted just after midday saying the problem was still affecting customers, but this time offered no deadline for a fully functional service.
The tweet said: “We apologise to customers who cannot use data at the moment. We have a fault with the allocation of IP addresses which we are fixing.”
O2 had a number of problems throughout the summer with its network.
In July customers lost both internet access and MMS abilities twice in one week and less than two weeks later the service faltered again cutting internet capabilities.
