Pixel Qi has begun ramping up production of its hybrid screens, as it looks to bring products to market in 2010.
The Pixel Qi screen can be flick between ePaper and LCD modes, though Pixel claims that the LCD will be far more readable under fluorescent lights than current screens.
According to Pixel Qi chief executive, Mary Lou Jepsen, a number of manufacturers will be demonstrating the screens in "a specialised tablet device with multitouch," during CES 2010.
It's also claimed the screens will be cheaper than current displays, and offer better battery life.
Jepsen didn't name hardware partners, but said that screens were being developed "for tablets and eBooks, and netbooks too".
