iPhone hitting Tesco in time for Christmas

Tesco hopes to begin selling the iPhone in time for Christmas.
In a terse statement on the company's site, the retail giant writes "Tesco Mobile through its joint venture partnership with O2 is pleased to announce that it will shortly introduce iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Tesco Phone Shops and online through Tesco Direct in the UK," the company says.
Pressed on a possible release date a spokesperson confirmed that the company "was hoping to have it before Christmas", though she could not confirm pricing details.

Tesco's partnership with O2 suggests it will arrive on exactly the same tariffs as those offered by the network provider.
That means the cheapest package way of getting hold of an iPhone 3GS will be to pay £184.98 for the handset, and then £29.38 per month on an eighteen-month contract.
News that O2's exclusive deal with Apple had ended sparked suggestions of a price war, but Orange's pricing proved almost identical to that of O2's.
If Tesco does get the iPhone in time for Christmas it will get the jump on Vodafone, which isn't expected to release the handset until early 2010.

Well the iPod is sold everywhere and that remains 'cool' so I don't think it will hurt it's image
