Opera launches Mobile 10 browser for Symbian

Opera has launched a beta version of Opera Mobile 10, which the company says is available for Nokia and other Symbian/S60 smartphones.
According to the company, Opera Mobile 10 beta Opera Mobile 10 will work on both touchscreen and keypad-based handsets and is twice as fast as the previous Symbian Opera software for Symbian phones.
Aware that mobile browsers are no longer prepared to accept stripped down mobile surfing, Opera says it has squeezed several desktop features into the browser, such as tabbed browsing, Speed Dial and password manager. Opera Turbo is also integrated, which improves page download speed through server-side compression.
The browser uses the same engine as its desktop namesake, which, according to the company, means Web sites and applications appear and work as they do on a desktop computer.
“Powerful smartphones deserve an equally powerful browser,” says Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner. “This beta continues our work to extend the desktop Web experience to mobile phones.”
