Zune HD not coming to UK

Microsoft has confirmed the Zune HD will not be showing its face in the UK, or at least not any time soon.
The Zune HD will be released in the US next week, and there had been speculation that Microsoft might finally bring the device to Europe.
However, the company has now put paid to that hope, confirming that "for the time being the Zune HD device will remain US only."
"Right now we are focused on deploying an exciting service in the form of Zune Video to 18 markets," a Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed. "We are looking at potential future hardware experiences for these markets, but do not have anything to announce right now."
Instead, UK users can look forward to accessing the Zune Marketplace through their Xbox consoles, which will offer videos, music and podcasts.
While the absence of the first two Zune players didn't overly perturb UK consumers, the Zune HD comes with an OLED touchscreen, HD radio, wireless connectivity and web browser, making it a viable challenger to Apple's dominant touch range.
It's currently being touted in 16GB and 32GB versions, priced at $219 and $289 respectively.
Still, we can always cling to the phrase "for the time being".

Shame,
I was actually going to replace my old battered 4th? gen iPod for one.
I think Microsoft have missed a great oportunity to actually take the fight to Apple. Oh well I guess Apple will get another sale and Microsoft have gained another missed oportunity.

MS Python's Flying Circus strikes again!
It's like the American "World Series". The "world" being the USA.
Do we really care?

Great
I got one of these from EBay and it just arrived yesturday.
Very nice piece of kit, super fast and responsive, nice audio quality and all. It was a lil smaller than I imagined and there were ofc some problems setting up an account because its locked to the US but I got around this and have all features activated such as apps and games etc etc.
Also radio works fine in England and I have no problems with this Zune HD at all, extreamly impressed with the software also.

UK Zuners
I've got my Zune HD 16GB from Ebay arrived yesterday, it works perfectly I had a bit of a trouble getting the Zune software 64-bit, with determination I managed to install it.
It worked very nicely, but there are some features that I expected a £160 MP3 player should have but didn't.
- an alarm clock
- navigational system
- flash player and Java plugin
- icons
- drag and drop
- websites display text and small images ONLY
- hook for a neck string (must only be placed in pockets)
- Can't make an account in your Zune software to download music.
- most importantly is that the marketplace is not available for applications (maybe if this was available at least half of the previous problems would be solved)without the marketplace you can't download music nor play games.
I can't believe am going to say this but if you're in the UK get an iPod touch even if you hate iTunes. I'll try and sell my zune, if I didn't succeed in few attempts I'll keep it.
(REMEMBER this review is only based in the UK region...might be different to the rest of Europe but I doubt that)
