iPod nano receives video camera

A gaunt-looking Steve Jobs made his first keynote appearance in five months to introduce a video camera for the iPod nano.
Describing himself as "vertical, back at Apple and enjoying every day of it" Jobs explained how the video camera market's "really exploded and we want in".
However, rather than introduce a specific video camera, Jobs described how they'd built it into the iPod nano. Amazingly, the technology won't increase the size of the device, which will also receive a larger 2.2in display, voice recorder, pedometer, FM radio, speaker and microphone.
Despite proclaiming himself fighting fit, Jobs nonetheless handed the presentation over to Phil Schiller for the iPod revamp.
At the top of the bill was the iPod touch, with the 8GB dropping to $199, and a hardware revamp that Apple claims makes it 50% faster. Contrary to those rumours the classic wasn't bumped off. It's gone up to 160GB capacity for $249. There's also a new polish stainless steel iPod shuffle for $99.
iTunes has also been upgraded to version nine. The most interesting new feature is the introduction of Genius technology to the Apps store which will recommend apps based on what you already own.
The interface has also been revamped to make it easier to navigate, and there's an advanced syncing option allowing people to organise and delete their apps through iTunes. iTunes 9 also brings Home Sharing, allowing different computers in the home to sync up and root through each other's iTunes libraries.
We also learned that Project Cocktail has become iTunes LP, bringing "amazingly rich content" to album downloads including lyrics, liner notes and cover art.

iPod classic
I am glad that the 160 Gb Classic is back. It is a shame I already have one from before. Though as long as there is a large version out I will have something to upgrade to.

5 months?
It is 12 months since Steve Jobs did a keynote. He released the last set of iPods in September last year. In December they announced he wouldn't be doing the keynote in January, then he was in hospital...

Just in time
I was just about to give up hope on getting a decent sized MP3 player having only just discovered the old 160GB was discontinued - perfect timing
