Gartner: Toshiba top of the notebook chart

UK notebook market grows 27 per cent and Toshiba takes the top spot again

For the third consecutive quarter, Toshiba has kept ahead of laptop competitors. With 75,474 sales Toshiba took 18 per cent of the market share, ahead of Dell that claimed sixteen per cent of the market with 66,621 units shifted.

Rounding out the top five, Hewlett-Packard took third place with twelve per of the market, followed by Acer and IBM with nine and seven per cent, respectively.

According to Toshiba, the company has outperformed the market. The latest figures from Gartner Dataquest show that it recorded a year-on-year growth rate of 33.8 per cent compared with the 27.3 growth of the total UK notebook market.

'In the public sector, Toshiba's "Laptops for Teachers" initiative has been responsible for strong Satellite and Satellite Pro sales nationwide, while government wins have seen impressive sales of Tecra and Satellite Pro models,' said Andy Bass, Director and General Manager of Toshiba UK.
