Four weeks ago, we discovered that Fujitsu Siemens sent in the wrong machine to our Power notebooks group test (see issue 95, September 2002). Instead of the 1.7GHz Pentium 4-M chip we tested, our readers could only buy a 1.6GHz machine at that price.
We have now re-tested the Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook E-7010 with the correct processor, and we're pleased to say its results exceeded our expectations. It scored 0.86 in our 2D benchmarks, only slightly behind the 0.89 it achieved with a faster processor. None of its other scores were adversely affected.
Unfortunately, Fujitsu Siemens has now informed us that the E-7010 does not include Wireless LAN at that price, plunging its award-winning status into doubt once again.
However, even with its slightly reduced features and performance scores, it remains the best business notebook we've seen for the price, and subsequently retains its A List status.
