Microsoft releases the second service pack for the Office XP suite.
The extensive package of bug releases is apparently designed to increase performance as well as security. However, while various European, Hebrew and Arabic versions have been made avaiable, the English language update has yet to officially appear.
The fixes include Microsoft Security Bulletins MS02-031 (cumulative patches for Excel and Word for Windows) and MS02-021 (an e-mail editor flaw can lead to script execution if you reply or forward a message).
Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Office XP comes 8 months after the release of SP1 in December 2001.
You can download SP2 from Microsoft's Web site.
