Anyone wanting to buy a Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook E-7010 as reviewed in this month's PC Pro could be disappointed...
The company has just informed us that we were sent an incorrectly specified machine. Instead of the 1.7GHz Pentium 4 processor supplied, the E-7010 will only be sold at the stated £1,446 (£1,699 inc VAT) with a 1.6GHz processor.
PC Pro's Labs is now waiting for a new unit with a 1.6GHz chip. This will be re-tested; the LifeBook's A List and Recommended status will depend on these results.
The news will come as a further disappointment to any customers trying to buy the E-7010 from resellers such as dabs.com, who are yet to update their pricing for the product. The 1.6GHz version of the E-7010 is part of Fujitsu Siemens' new Value4You scheme (intended to reduce the price of the most popular products), and this should be on sale for the price quoted. Currently, it's on sale for £1,675 (£1,968 inc VAT).
Fujitsu Siemens does not expect the price of the 1.7GHz version to drop from its current £1,729 (£2,032 inc VAT) until September.
When PC Pro's Labs have an update on this machine's performance, we will post the results and our recommendations here.
