Apple has released the latest update for Leopard, bringing a host of bug fixes addressing compatibility issues and security flaws.
Among the changes are improved history search in Safari 4 and fixes for problems importing large image and movie files from digital cameras.
The OS X 10.5.8 update also improves reliability in a number of areas, including Bluetooth which should hopefully put an end to the headache of wireless keyboards and mice periodically disconnecting. MobileMe, syncing, file sharing and joining AirPort networks has also come in for attention.
Among the 18 security vulnerabilities that the update addresses are issues with MobileMe, where signing out may not remove all credentials, and with laptops with multitouch trackpads, where four-finger gestures can be used to gain access to an apparently locked machine.
The update also contains all the recent security updates.
If past experience is any indicator, then Apple is likely to release at least one more Leopard update, which will roughly coincide with the release of Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). Apple released such updates to coincide with both the Tiger and Leopard releases.
