3 set to launch MiFi routers

Mobile network 3 is bringing battery-powered 3G Wi-Fi routers to the UK.
The "MiFi" device allows multiple PCs, phones and other devices to share the same 3G connection - although given the limited bandwidth on offer from mobile broadband it would be unwise to push that too far.
Unlike the D100 router 3 released earlier this year, the MiFi device is battery operated, meaning you don't have to be tethered to the mains.
However, you can't plug an existing 3G dongle into the MiFi router, which means users will either have to keep swapping their SIM card between router or dongle or use two separate SIM cards. A spokesperson for 3 said the company was still working out how these devices would be offered to existing customers.
3 is yet to release any details of the battery life or range of the 86 x 45 x 10mm router, nor is it willing to confirm the price.
The device will go on sale before Christmas, according to the network.
