A Cut and Paste Preview option will provide a live preview of what a document or spreadsheet will look like when content is pasted in, and give users greater control over formatting options.
A new Ribbon tab will also allow users to customise what buttons they want to appear at the top of the screen, although Adams warns that "just because the feature is available in the product now, it doesn't mean it will be in the final version".
New line-up
Microsoft is reducing the number of different versions of Office from eight to five, with Adams admitting that there "has been over-complexity in the past".
There will be three versions of the software aimed at home and small business users: Home and Student, Professional, and a new Home and Business version that contains Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
For volume licensing customers, there will be Professional Plus (which contains the full gamut of Office applications) and Standard (which includes Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Publisher).
All versions of Office now also include OneNote.
Microsoft has yet to announce pricing details for Office 2010, and says that the suite is set to launch in the first half of 2010.
