Mozilla is putting the finishing touches to a program that will allow enterprises to build customised versions of the Firefox browser.
The Build Your Own Browser program is scheduled to begin soon after the release of Firefox 3.5 in June and will allow companies to customise certain aspects of the browser, from bookmarks to skins emblazoned with the company logo, using a web application provided by Mozilla.
Once the custom browser is developed, the application will send it to the company with an installation program that makes it possible to install the browser across multiple desktops, according to Mozilla.
The Build Your Own Browser program is Mozilla's first assault on Microsoft's stranglehold on the enterprise market.
However, the program is dependent on the release of the much-delayed Firefox 3.5. Mozilla is currently pushing out a preview version between the beta and Release Candidate as it looks to get some movement behind the stalling browser.
