Nokia claims 23-day standby for E52

Nokia has released its svelte new E52, and is claiming a staggering 23 days standby time.

Alongside this impressive figure, Nokia is also claiming the E52 will allow users to "sit on a single call for an eight-hour business day without plugging in the charger."

Manufacturer battery life claims always need to be taken with a decent dollop of scepticism, although Nokia's E-Series smartphones are renowned for their stamina.

The E52 should also be fairly swift. Nokia says the smartphone will support HSDPA download speeds of up to 10.2Mbits/sec, and upload speeds of 2Mbits/sec, though the UK mobile networks are not yet capable of delivering such speeds.

Beneath the 2.4in display, customers can also expect Assisted-GPS, Nokia Maps and 1GB of built-in memory upgradable to 16GB through a microSD card.

Nokia's also touting its noise cancellation technology, which it claims will banish interference on bad lines.

The smartphone is expected to appear in the second half of this year with an estimated price of 245 euros. UK pricing has yet to be confirmed.
