Eizo has announced two monitors with "human presence sensors", which will automatically switch to standby when left unattended.
The motion sensor sits at the bottom of the monitor and emits an infrared beam 47in in front of the panel which scans for movement. If the sensor doesn't detect any movement for 40 seconds then the standby mode is automatically engaged.
The monitor will spring back to life when the user returns. Eizo claims that the monitors draw only 0.7 watts of power when on standby.
The sensor will be included on two of Eizo's forthcoming products - the 20in FlexScan EV2023W-H and the 23in FlexScan EV2303W-T. The former offers a 1,600 x 900 resolution, while the latter goes right up to 1080p (1,920 x 1,080).
UK pricing and release dates will be given later today.
