The Week in Your Words: bring on the Facespooks

We could call it Grooooovgle. The home page could become the commune page, and it wouldn't matter what result it turned up because "every result is the right result, man." Google Labs would probably need a rethink, though.

Satnav leads driver to 100ft drop

This week also produced the story of a man so enamoured by his satnav that he nearly followed it off the edge of a cliff. It makes you wonder why we took the maps off women in the first place. The forums were feeling particularly vitriolic.

"A lot of people use satnav and disengage brain. But recently numbers have been dropping off," puns BurnIT rather marvellously.

phantombudgie was not going to be outdone: "After 400ft, turn left. After quarter of a mile, attach parachute!"

There was some sympathy for the befuddled driver. Not much, though.

"My better half was learning to drive and set up her satnav for no motorways, yet it still tried to make her turn on to one," laments damianstrudley. "She had to go round the roundabout, pull in and let the qualified driver take over. I can see how things happen, but at least she had sense."

Ah well, even the best laid plans, eh...

See you all next week.
