Apple will reportedly take delivery of newly developed 10in touchscreens in the third quarter, spurring rumours the company is developing a touchscreen netbook.
Reports claim Apple is sourcing the screens from Taiwanese touchscreen specialist Wintek, which already supplies smaller screens for the iPhone.
Reuters claims to have heard the tip from a source close to the firm who asked not to be identified because he was not authorised to talk to the media.
The story builds on the widely-circulated rumours that Apple intends to enter the netbook market in typically stylish fashion.
Its effort is thought to resemble a tablet PC, that will use the multi-touch technology found in the iPhone and feature a stripped down version of the OS X.
Some of those reports have said that Taiwan's Quanta Computer will manufacture the actual PCs for Apple.
Apple says it does not comment on speculation.
