Yahoo boss readies revamp

By Reuters

Yahoo's long-expected reorganisation under new chief executive Carol Bartz, could arrive later this week, according to reports.

The Wall Street Journal, citing sources within the company, claims the revamp will probably start Wednesday, though it's likely to be rolled out in stages.

The reorganisation is expected to create a new chief marketing officer position, and force all senior executives to report directly to Bartz.

In addition, several sources suggest Bartz may abandon a recent restructuring that split the world into four operating regions. Instead, one executive is expected to head US operations and a second head up all international efforts.

Bartz sent a memo to employees last week telling them to "get well-rested, because next week's a biggie," suggesting any changes are likely to be company wide.

Yahoo officials declined to comment.

Yahoo has had a troubled year after it held fruitless talks with Microsoft, Google and AOL.

During that time, Yahoo lost market share in search advertising, while display ad sales have been badly hit by a global recession.
