Asus folds up laptops

Asus has been touting a fold-up laptop concept at this year's CES, as it looks at ways of revolutionising the market following the success of the Eee PC.

The basic idea is that an ultra thin, ultra light Origami PC would be able to fold into a compact shape, or unfold so that it is completely flat. At a basic level this would allow users to adjust the angle of the keyboard, just as they adjust the angle of the display.

However, the clever bit is that when two laptops are touching they will communicate wirelessly, sharing the information displayed on the screen with the other, allowing for greater collaboration between users.

The touchscreen displays are also transparent, meaning that you can see what's happening on the other screen, simply by peering through your own.

Though the Origami concept is still in its early stages the company says it is serious about further development.

Also on the Asus stand the company was showing off its new Eee PC T91 tablet. Similiar in design to the 10in Eee PC, the T91 tablet features a touchscreen display that can be folded flat.

Beneath the hood it remains an Eee PC however, with an Atom Z520 processor, 1GB RAM and Microsoft Windows XP. There's also options to include GPS and a TV tuner.

There's no word on pricing yet.
