Former Vodafone boss dismisses Yahoo link

Former Vodafone chief executive Arun Sarin has decided not to pursue the top job at Yahoo, according to reports.
Sarin was reportedly on a shortlist of candidates being considered by the Yahoo board to replace Jerry Yang. He was sufficiently far enough along for the directors to begin checking his references.
However, according to the Financial Times, Sarin is expected to publicly declare himself out of the running.
Sarin is thought to be looking at alternative roles in other US companies as well as at a private equity firmm.
Yang said in November that he would step down as chief executive as soon as Yahoo's board finds a replacement. However, a decision on his replacement is not expected to be reached until January at the earliest.
The search is being led by a small cabal of Yahoo board members, who will take their shortlist to the full board once it is finalised.
That list is thought to include the names of several executives at leading technology and media companies, though only Sarin has been named.
