Sony is gearing up to unveil an iPod touch rival, rumours suggest.
Initially reported at Sony Insider, the centrepiece of Sony's effort will be a 3.3in 400 x 240 resolution OLED touchscreen, which should offer greater battery life and a better screen quality than its rivals.
The MP3 player will also a Wi-Fi connection, allowing users to surf the web and access YouTube and the Amazon MP3 music store through bundled apps. There will also be support for streaming podcasts, an unspecified browser and FM radio.
Sony is said to be trying to keep the device as streamlined as possible, and in keeping with this mantra will fit the device with either 16GB, or 32GB of flash memory. There will be hardware controls for volume and skipping tracks, however.
The covers are expected to come the device at the Consumer Electronic Show in January.
