Lenovo netbooks hit UK

Lenovo is ready to roll out its netbook offering across the UK, nearly four months after it was first announced.
The Chinese manufacturer's take on the budget laptop category comes in two varieties, the S9e and S10e, featuring a 8.9in and 10.2in screen, respectively.
Both models come with the now ubiquitous 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor, between 512MB and 1.5GB of RAM, and either a 4GB solid state drive or 160GB hard drive.
Customers can choose from Windows XP or Novell's SuSE Linux operating system.
The laptops also feature the increasingly popular Instant On feature, that allows you to "check email, browse the internet, conduct video conferencing, view photos or listen to music" through a Linux operating system, without needing to wait for the laptop to boot up.
Both laptops are set to weigh in at around 1.1Kg, and feature Wi-Fi, an Express Card slot, 4-in-1 card reader and the option of either a three or six hour battery and Bluetooth.
Both models will be on sale in the next week starting at £279 inc VAT for the S9e. The S10e should launch at £319, representing something of a bum deal for UK consumers in relation to their American counterparts.
