Dixons unveils new netbook

Posted on 15 Sep 2008 at 11:41

DSGi, the group behind PC World and Currys, has expanded its netbook range with its own-brand Advent 4213.

The group's first foray into the netbook market was the Advent 4211, a rebadged MSI Wind which impressed us by offering the same specification as the Wind but for £50 less.

However, the Advent 4213 ditches the Wind's chassis for a custom case and builds in HSDPA support, allowing customers to plug in a SIM card for mobile broadband support.

Alongside this handy feature, the 4213 features the same 10in screen, 1.6Ghz Atom processor and 1GB of RAM of its predecessor. The hard disk does receive a boost, however, jumping from 80GB to 160GB, though it takes the price with it, rising from £279.99 for the 4211 to £349.99 for the 4213.

Mobile broadband is a feature that has been increasingly creeping into netbooks of late, with Dell announcing a tie-up with Vodafone to offer the service on its new Mini9. Previously Asus has hooked up with Orange to offer a similar package.

The Advent 4213 is available from the PC World website.
