IT job demand slipping in UK

The demand for IT jobs is slipping in the UK, according to online job advertisement statistics released by Monster.
In the UK, the number of IT jobs advertised online slipped 3% from June, and 12% from July 2007. The slide represents a 23% drop from this year's peak demand in February.
The UK IT market appears to have been hit harder than Europe, as demand for IT jobs across the continent rose slightly last month from June, though overall it was down 2% from the same time last year.
"The UK economy continues to slow and the outlook for the rest of 2008 remains gloomy, meaning tougher conditions in the labour market," says Hugo Sellert, head of economic research for Monster Worldwide, in the report.
"Given this backdrop, it is not surprising that online recruitment is now moderating, with fewer job offerings than a year ago in areas such as finance, retail and technology."
