Microsoft's August Patch Tuesday will include seven critical updates relating to both Windows and Office.
The seven critical patches affect Internet Explorer, Media Player and deal with remote code executions that could allow a hacker access to your system.
Affected operating systems include Windows 2000, XP and Vista, Windows Server 2003 and 2008.
Alongside the critical patches, there are an additional four related solely to the Office suite, bringing fixes for Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
There are five fixes rated as important and involve either remote code execution or information disclosure. The patches are for Word, Messenger, Outlook Express and Windows.
Microsoft will also be releasing an upgrade to its Windows Malicious Software Removal tool.
Last week, the software giant said it would start sharing patches with vendors ahead of releasing them to the public, to help give them a head start in the race against malware creators.
