Live Mesh allows you to keep files and folders synchronised across your different PCs.

The beta software currently only works with Windows XP and Vista machines, but Microsoft plans to bring the service to Macs and smartphone devices in the future.

Live Mesh provides 5GB of online storage, so that synchronised files can be retrieved from any web browser.

Microsoft says that users from outside the US who want to trial Live Mesh "can join in the fun early as well - with one caveat: you must be willing to change your Windows operating system region and language setting to EN-US."

"Once you do this you will be able to immediately sign in to Live Mesh with a valid Windows Live ID. Please be aware that this may cause other applications that specifically require your native country region and language settings to encounter problems."

We're currently logged in with English (United Kingdom) still set as our default language, so we're slightly baffled by this comment.
