Posted on 25 Feb 2002 at 11:18
Adobe has announced that Photoshop 7 will be available in the second quarter of 2002, with full support for Windows XP.
Although the major feature of this release is XP compatibility (and MacOS X, too), augmented by enhanced multi-processor support, Adobe has also included a number of new tools and features to give the upgrade wider appeal.
Among these is new healing brush, a sophisticated extension of Photoshop's cloning abilities, and a new painting engine allowing for custom brush presets, simulation of drawing techniques and special brush effects. New plug-ins include a pattern maker and enhanced liquefy controls over image warping.
Photoshop 7 also boast Adobe's File Browser, enabling the location and organisation of image files on your hard drive, server or digital cameras from within the application.
ImageReady 7 is included with the package and changes include extra compression of images and increased control for maintaining transparency online.
Adobe Photoshop 7 will cost an estimated £450, or £99 for an upgrade from earlier versions. Photoshop Elements and Photoshop LE users will be able to upgrade for £350.
