T-Mobile rolls out high-speed uploads

Posted on 1 Jul 2008 at 13:00

T-Mobile claims it's become the first network to roll out nationwide High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA), offering mobile broadband customers upload speeds of up to 1.4Mb/sec.

The company claims the upgraded network will result in a five-fold improvement in its upload speeds.

The improved uplink will complement T-Mobile's impressive download speeds, which hit an average of 2Mb/sec in London during PC Pro's recent tests of all five UK mobile broadband networks (full results in this month's magazine, on sale now).

T-Mobile claims it's also in the process of upgrading its 3G network to headline speeds of 7.2Mb/sec, initially within London and then in major cities later this year.

The company has also announced a modest price drop on its £15-per-month Mobile Broadband Plus price plan, knocking £5 off the first three months of access when customers sign a two-year contract.
