The company is ready to replace the Eee PC 900 and the newly-launched Eee PC 901 with two new models, the 904 and the 905.
The two new models will retain the 8.9in screen, but put it into the chassis for the company's 10.2in models, according to a DigiTimes report.
This will allow Asus to expand the size of the Eee PC's keyboard - a common criticism of the devices - and may also facilitate increases in storage space and battery life.
The report claims the new models will replace the 900 and 901 and will retail at a similar price.
However, it still represents something of a gamble for Asus, as the compact size was one of the main reasons for the Eee PC's initial success.
Asus's UK representatives couldn't comment on the new models at the time of publication.
