D-Link has added integrated BitTorrent support to its DNS-323 network attached storage (NAS) device, enabling torrent downloads and uploads independently of a computer.
The D-Link DNS-323 two-Bay Network Storage Enclosure now includes the latest BitTorrent software development kit (SDK) from the BitTorrent Device Partners program, turning it into a "media hub" for BitTorrent content. The integration means a computer does not even need to be connected for the device to work.
"By integrating the latest BitTorrent SDK into our NAS devices and ensuring our routers are BitTorrent-certified, we provide our customers with the most highly optimised BitTorrent implementation for connected devices and an efficient way to control and access their NAS device via an intuitive Web interface," says Andrew Mulholland, D-Link marketing manager of UK & Ireland.
Established in 2007, the aim of the BitTorrent Device Partners program is to encourage consumer electronics hardware, middleware and application providers to deploy peer-to-peer technology.
The free upgrade for the DNS-323 is available via firmware downloads at dlink.co.uk/support.
