As the iPod is basically a FireWire hard drive, getting a Windows machine to recognise it should not prove too difficult, provided the machine has a FireWire or compatible connection, although most don't. Mediafour says that XPod will work with Windows Me, 98, 95, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP.
Kristin Tedesco, MediaFour's press officer said: 'We're unable to provide any further technical details at the moment. All I can tell you at this point is that we're hoping to have the product out within the next couple of weeks and it will be an inexpensive solution for anyone with a PC and a FireWire card.'
She added that, 'We don't have anything to do with Apple. We are big fans of Apple's and we sincerely hope that they'll be as pleased with this product as our potential customers, as it will really help them to grow the iPod's market. I guess we'll just put the product out to market and hopefully we'll get a positive reaction.'
