Intel and HP collaborate on futurism

Today's technology, today...

The words 'Concept PC' may have you reaching for your revolver, but the Concept PC 2001 - put together by HP and Intel - is built around technology available today.

There's certainly nothing futuristic anymore about USB 2.0 or Bluetooth, and certainly not Intel's P4. But what is innovative is the thought process behind splitting the components into 'personal' and 'computing' elements.

The Concept PC 2001 features a closed box scenario, housing core components for the computing element. The personal element is a TFT screen with built-in features that include a Webcam, CD-R/W drive (a bit old hat these days with DVD-RW+ drives becoming widely available), USB ports and wireless connectivity to keyboard and mouse.

A joint venture in marketing it may well be, but the Concept PC 2001 certainly looks the part. It almost resembles an Apple product...
