Opera targets huge growth in 2008 4:32PM, Thursday 19th June 2008
Opera says it's targeting revenue growth of around 50% in 2008 and even more in 2009, as its browser makes mobile phone inroads.

Opera claims the increasing popularity of smartphones is driving demand for its browser, which it licenses to mobile manufacturers.

The company claims that strong growth may even prompt its newly appointed strategy team to consider acquisition opportunities, while it continues to invest heavily in its core markets in Europe, the US, Japan and Korea.

"The market opportunities are huge and Opera is well-positioned to take advantage of them," the company said.

Opera recently released the latest version of its browser, Opera 9.5 with the company touting its ability to synch with all other versions of the browser, including Mini, as a killer app in the future.
