Firefox 3 hits Release Candidate 2

Posted on 5 Jun 2008 at 10:16

Mozilla has made the second release candidate of Firefox 3 available for download.

The open-source developer has been forced to produce a second release candidate after the discovery of several critical bugs in the first.

"There are about 30 issues that we want to close out," Mozilla's vice president of engineering, Mike Schroepfer, told PC Pro at the end of last week.

A list of known issues published on the Firefox website include problems with Windows Media Player in Vista, and bugs affecting Flash and Microsoft's Silverlight.

Nevertheless, Mozilla remains confident that the full launch of Firefox 3 will take place this month, as planned.

The Firefox release comes just days after Bill Gates confirmed that Internet Explorer 8 will enter its second beta stage in August.
