Facebook unveils new redesign images 11:01AM, Wednesday 21st May 2008
Facebook has revealed further details of its impending redesign, with new tabs and flexibility touted as the big changes.

The idea of tabbed browsing in Facebook was mooted back in February, but has now been elaborated with the unveiling of five categories which will break up the profile page into Feed, Info, Wall, Photos and Applications sections. A posting on the site claims users will have the freedom to move the applications into other sections, or simply create news tabs as they wish.

The Applications tab is clearly the major addition, as it was the proliferation of new applications and the clutter they caused on the profile page that prompted the redesign in the first place. Under the new design all applications will now be grouped together, with the user able to arrange them on the page - or move them into other tabs.

Another big change comes in the form of the Publisher box, which is where users will upload photos, videos, notes and other information. It will also be the place where friends add comments to walls, potentially simplifying the management of the page.
