Microsoft invents new word (and promotes MSN Explorer)

Posted on 21 May 2001 at 17:17

The Internet experience is about to get a little more integrated if you are a fan of the Microsoft MSN network of Internet services. In an attempt at "marketisation", Microsoft is rolling out its new MSN Explorer software to 30 different world markets.

The new software brings together MSN Hotmail, MSN Messenger and MSN Search into one application, allowing you to surf the Internet, receive and send e-mail, send instant messages and search the net without switching applications. The new software features the cartoonish WinXP styling that Microsoft is currently favouring and is only available for download in the US and Canada, although the application will be rolled out across the world shortly.

The software features an integrated media player and the ability to support nine separate users with their own settings and functions, which makes the sharing of information via MSN Custom Web sites much easier.

For all those features, it's no surprise that this new integrated browser weighs in at 19Mb. For more information, check out the MSN Explorer site here.
