Xobni now open to all 11:02PM, Monday 5th May 2008
The PC Pro Recommended Outlook add-in, Xobni, has moved out of closed beta and into the open.

Designed to make it easier to handle the deluge of daily messages, Xobni integrates with Outlook and - to quote our original review - becomes "an invaluable weapon in the daily war with email".

It installs as a sidebar in Outlook and allows users to easily search for key terms. All the relevant emails, calendar events and contacts then appear in the sidebar.

click on a received message and previous emails, exchanged files and key details of the person who sent you the mail will appear.

PC Pro originally arranged for 200 invites to be offered to our online readers, and a further 200 for readers of the magazine, but anyone can now download the programme from Xobni's download site.

Since our original review, the beta has been further improved and now, if anything, is faster and smoother.

In that review we speculated about the link between Xobni and Microsoft, and rumours of an attempted buyout have been confirmed in a New York Times article.

Though Xobni's ambitions appear to have spread to social networking, for the moment Xobni's key benefits are for anyone who uses Outlook. If that includes you, we recommend you download it today.
