Xbox to be unveiled at CES, Las Vegas

Posted on 4 Jan 2001 at 10:38

A report from a Swiss Web site indicates that Bill Gates is to reveal his console-busting Xbox at the forthcoming Computer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

An internal e-mail from Microsoft has fallen into the hands of ComputerWorld Switzerland and reveals that Bill Gates will make a keynote speech at the CES and unveil the new device. Games that will be demoed at the event (and hopefully be released at the Xbox launch) include:

  • Oddworld

  • Malice

  • WWF

  • Tony Hawk

  • Knockout Kings

  • Metal Gear Solid 2

  • Silent Hill

  • Jurassic Park

  • Crash Bandicoot
On a separate note, if you want to become a play tester for the some of the titles developed for the Xbox, a new Web site will be of interest to you. The Microsoft Playtest/Research site is open to everyone over the age of 13 and if you are a successful entrant, you will get the chance to play all the latest PC and Xbox titles. The only drawback is that the playtest scheme is only open to residents of the Seattle area. So if you live in Catford, you've got absolutely no chance!
