Oftel investigates BT Surf and Talk pricing 10:57AM, Tuesday 28th November 2000
Oftel has officially confirmed that it is investigating the pricing of BT's new Surf and Talk Together packages.

The proposed packages for unmetered voice and Internet access calls are due to come into effect on 1 December. But Oftel will now be investigating, under the terms of the 19998 Competition Act, BT's pricing. The terms of this investigation are whether the schemes from BT will undermine effective competition.

The three new packages from BT are BT Talk Together, BT Surf Together and BT Talk&Surf Together, for unlimited off-peak local calls or Internet calls. For consumers, the individual Talk and Surf packages are priced at £14.99 while the Talk&Surf package is £19.99.

A FAQ from BT can be found here.
