A "memorandum of understanding" has been signed that binds the authorities to collaborate on the development of security services for businesses and individuals.
"Both our organisations are market leaders in digital security for government, industry and citizens." said Peter Taylor, ViaCode's MD. "Now we're looking at ways to electronically bring all three elements of our two communities together and allow them to use common trusted Internet applications for administrative, business, cultural and social exchanges."
Digital signatures, which are a feature of ViaCode and Hong Kong Post services, have legal status in both the UK and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
A series of such mutual agreements could be the way ahead for ensuring the validity of digital signatures within e-commerce.
