The Museum of Computing is searching for a permanent new home because it faces eviction from its Swindon headquarters.
The Museum has resided at the Oakfield Campus of Bath University in Swindon since its launch in 2003. However, the university is closing the campus this summer and the building is being returned to Swindon Borough Council, who are yet to decide what to do with the premises.
"We have to be out by the end of July this year," the Museum's curator, Simon Webb, told PC Pro. "We'd obviously like to continue as we are. The worst possible scenario is we have to go into storage."
Webb is appealing for suggestions for new venues, preferably in the Swindon area. The museum currently occupies 75 square metres of display space and 100 square metres of storage, although the two could be split across different venues if necessary.
Whatever the outcome, the Museum of Computing will continue to tour the country with host exhibits at venues across the country. Its current exhibition - Pong to Playstation, a history of the games console - will be appearing at six venues across the UK this summer.
Anyone with ideas for a new venue can contact Simon Webb at info@museum-of-computing.org.uk
